Gujarat Series - Ahmedabad

Finally, we were on our way to GUJARAT! The destination that all avid bird watchers will want to visit as the sheer diversity and numbers of otherwise rare birds is unparalleled here.

Our trip list started with the Crested Serpent Eagle which to our surprise was perched on a bund between two fields. What luck! Got good views of it.

We reached Ahmedabad late in the evening. An early morning walk around the immediate area produced the only vulture of our trip – the White Rumped Vulture. We caught it near it’s nest and it happily posed for us… as many shots as we wanted J!

The list grew as we saw the Tawny Pipit, numerous Rose Ringed Parakeet, Shikra, the white and black Ibis, the Black Redstart, Yellow Footed Green Pigeons, Asian Koel, Peacocks and peahens, some warblers which I could not identify, not to mention the omnipresent White breasted Kingfishers and beeeaters…
